"to enable God's missing children
to come home"

Our Membership Care and Development Ministry focuses on caring for and Wendynurturing its members in tandem with growing their knowledge of God and, as they mature, encouraging them to reach out to a broken world. Our benchmark is the Shepherd in Psalm 23 who guards and guides His sheep.

The most effective vehicle through which we attempt to care for and develop our members is the small group or Life Group as we call them, where 2-12 members gather regularly to “do life together”. These range from book clubs and an exercise group to fellowship groups and study groups. At SWUC we strongly believe that it is within community that pain is shared and celebrations are doubled.

We care..... through the following sub-ministries:
Prayer Warriors cover each member with prayer on a regular basis
Hospital Visitors do daily visits to the two local hospitals
Family Matters, meal ministry, visits members recently out of hospital or experiencing a crisis to drop off a meal or two as a gift of encouragement.
Pastoral Visitors who keep in touch with members currently not connected to a Life Group.

We grow.......through other sub-ministries:
Celebrate Recovery is a group support programme designed to restore members to emotional and
spiritual wholeness.

SOAL (School of Abundant Living) offers a variety of Biblically-based courses:
Alpha ... introduction to Christian Faith
Crossroads ... biblical literacy course
Good $ense ... personal financial management
Marriage Course ... marriage enrichment
Network ... discovering the Christian’s spiritual gifts
Resources: Our library offers a wide range of study materials as well as a good variety of books

Current happenings and developments:

Man@United are offering a monthly breakfast at which guest speakers share news and views.

• One of our young ladies’ groups is organising an event for all the 80+ year old SWUC ladies at which they’ll share their reasons for being grateful to God for His goodness over the years.

• Four new Life Groups are being developed, one for parents of school going children, a ladies’ group in Helderberg Village, a mixed gender fellowship group and a handyman’s group.

"So let's do it—full of belief, confident that we're presentable inside and out.

Let's keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going.

He always keeps his word. Let's see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching."
